AFC History >>
In September of 2002, Amarillo Fellowship Church
began with just three families totaling eleven
people. The launch was a culmination of a vision
God had placed in the heart of Richie Brown, the
founding Pastor, five years earlier.
AFC
began with a “small group mindset”
of ministry and met in the home of Richie and
Pam Brown. These small groups, called Connect Groups,
are the ministry base of AFC.
Simultaneously, they began meeting on Wednesday
nights at Wolflin Elementary School for their
“Core” (teaching & prayer) Service.
In December of the same year, they began meeting
on Sunday’s at 10:00. Easter of 2003 they
began their current format of a 9:00 Prayer &
10:00 Celebration Service. AFC met at the school
for nearly two years.
In March of 2004, AFC moved to a permanent location
at 4th and Western. The church signed a five year
lease and began an extensive remodeling process.
As the church approaches its sixth year anniversary,
AFC has four full-time and twopart-time staff
member. Sunday morning attendance is averaging
about 250 people.
From the beginning of planting the church, Pastor
Richie and Pastor Pam have known that prayer is
an essential part of God’s plan for Amarillo
Fellowship. It is our covering in all services
and activities.
