Philosophy of Ministry ...

It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4:11-16

Why We Exist ...

Purpose Statement: Equipping World Changers

What We Intend to Do ...

Mission Statement: Living by the AFC Principles with total dependence upon God, we will live our lives focused on reaching the lost and restoring the wounded.  As a learning community, we will be a Christ-centered body with diverse gifts, talents & abilities who are discovering our purpose while actively serving and growing in relationships with God & others.

How We Will Act ...

Principle Statement: Living by the fruit of the spirit:

  • Love-Never failing to place the ultimate good of others above my own desires
  • Joy-Moving ahead in the quiet confidence that the battle is His, not mine
  • Peace-Seeking the unity of spirit through the free flow of ideas and opinions
  • Patience-Cheerfully enduring personal discomfort while waiting on God and others
  • Kindness-Treating others as I would have them treat me, with compassion, consideration & grace
  • Goodness-Excellence of Character & Action. Doing right things & doing things right
  • Faithfulness-Being reliable and loyal to God and others in a spirit of servant-hood
  • Gentleness-Always speaking the truth in love; mildly, tenderly & with consideration
  • Self Control-Submitting my emotions, desires and thoughts to God and following His direction

What We Believe ...

Faith Statement: Amarillo Fellowship Church has officially adopted the 10 point statement of faith of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE). NAE's statement of faith is adhered to by 49 conservative evangelical denominations and more than 50,000 churches across America. To read each of the 10 points, see Amarillo Fellowship Church ByLaws, Article 1. We hold the Bible to be the source of authority on all beliefs. Our faith statement focuses on issues of primary doctrinal importance. We recognize all other issues of faith and practice as being of secondary concern. We give latitude for members to hold differing personal views on all other issues outside the statement of faith. "One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers ever day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind." Romans 14:5. "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 15:5-6.

What We Practice ...

Ministry Focus Statement

1. Prayer Based Empowerment
Prayer (individually, in small groups, and corporately) is and will be the foundation to everything we do without exception from start to finish. We will teach people how to pray effectively as we educate them on what God has to say about the value and power of individual, small group, and corporate prayer.

2. Evangelism & Restoration Focused
AFC's "Mission One" will be to glorify God by leading the lost to the Lord and restoring wounded Christians. We will systematically disciple every member both individually and collectively until each one reaches spiritual maturity as evidenced by their commitment to fulfilling their own unique role in the Great Commission while fulfilling the Great Commission.

3. Personal Ministry Development
We will seek to bring our level of obedience more in line with our level of knowledge. We will all be "Doin' the Stuff" that Jesus did and said His disciples would also do. Individually, in small groups, and corporately there will be an emphasis on application of all the gifts of the spirit. healing and prophesy will play a special role always for the purpose of glorifying God and leading the lost to know Him personally.

4. Cell Groups and Celebration Formats
Cell groups we call Connect Groups will be the life's blood and our first priority for church related activities. All members will be taken through the process of:

  • discovering their individual call
  • becoming proficient and comfortable in applying their Spiritual gifts
  • effectively functioning in these gifts
  • supporting each other to ensure we are all obeying God's call on our lives

Celebration Services will be sensitive to those seeking to know more about our Lord by providing a joyously worshipful time to focus on Jesus and to fellowship with the saints. As a musical form of prayer the worship ministry will be designed to play a special role in Celebration Services, namely to work in unison with the Holy Spirit to focus our attention on the only personality that counts, Jesus. Every gathering will be designed to worship God in a way that pleases Him and to provide an opportunity for the lost to respond to His salvation call.
